Update to Fix duping and Server Crashes *Fundraiser*

Greetings folks,

Now that we have the server bill out of the way for this month and almost enough for next months server bill as well, I'd like to announce to everyone that I have a contact within the official server that will sell us updates to the game so that our server will be continually updated to official server specs thus correcting all the issues with server crashes, dupers and other hacks and bugs.

The cost for the initial update is $2000, each additional update that we purchase in the future ranges from $500-$1000. With these updates our server would be the greatest server out, there would be no more dupers, hackers or cheaters and the server would be all day every day without crashes or bugs.

Tomorrow afternoon I'll start a fundraiser so that we can generate funds to buy the Initial Update. I went ahead and sold my IBM Thinkpad to a friend for $500 to help get us started toward our goal. So as of right now we need to generate around $1500.

Now, we dont have to generate this money fast but of course the sooner we can generate the funds the sooner we have a bug free and stable server. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post them in this thread and I'll be happy to answer them.

I love the idea,

the only questions i have is the updates that you had in mind for the server.
one, drops will have less booty,
two, and maybe the most important, the script you said you were writing, to help find and ban the dupers.

Yeah. true. if spending some money is what it takes to get the server stable, fun and most importantly hacking free, i don't mind spending a few coins. After all, that's all i can do at the moment.

Can i beg to unban my Account?... please, I made a Failure in Logging in... the Account has been banned because of Failure 4 tyms...

1. Drops will have less booty - Yes this is true, however Onyx (our newest dev) can easily modify the loot tables of every mob in the game to add, remove or adjust item amounts that drop.

2. The ban Script - The ban script is a simple script that is basically just an in-depth sql script that searches for duplicate item id's on characters and searches for by whom the item was made by, and then depending on my input either bans the character or account and deletes the items, or just deletes the item. See, whenever these people who are duping dupe they are making an exact copy of the item they have, which includes its unique ID in the database. Any item which shows up more then once in the DB are 100% duped items.

The script will take me some time to run on the server but when its finished there will be no more duped items and 99% of the people who duped items will be banned and the server will be cleaned of all the duped crap.

Now, the reason it'll take me time to run through it is that I understand some people get duped stuff on accident from when others dupe and it'd be unfair to just ban everyone, so I will be manually going over each person who shows up with a duped item. If I find someone with 500 duped items they'll get banned, if someone shows up with 1 or 2 duped item, they'll probably just get their duped items deleted.

Sorry for the long drawn out explanation lol

On topic, this server will stay online forever even if no one is playing, it'll be here for anyone who ever wants to play on it, regardless of if we ever get these updates - it may not be as fun, but it'll definitely stay online forever.

thanks BG! i just have 1 more question, maybe you are aware that some random people can easily upgrade weap or armors to +5 and if you will check TeRR's post, a guy just upgraded a metal elven shield to +5, is it possible also to detect that? im just afraid that for some reason they upgrade them then dupe those items. but hell yeah we will back you up whatever it takes ^_^

Lets start donating for the server guys, it doesnt matter if it will be 1$-5% each person, that wont hurt much on our pockets eh? We need help from everybody, those people who dont have credit cards BG for sure can make arrangements like money transfer. Every single penny will help and its for our own happiness and play the game to maximum satisfaction.

how about if the item you bought it in uts and you dont know thats a dupped item is your character will be ban or just delete the items?

what about the duper who upgrade their weapon to +5 +6 +7 and destroying the duplicates?

and money can be dupe also (instant teal and blue mau)

im excited to see what those fundraiser stuffs will be.. i will be glad to help the server over and over again as long as there's constant updates on whats happening to the server and most especially the outcome of it..

As soon as we get the duping script, we then can have a main focus on hackers. and not need to waste GMs time on banning dupers. hence cleaning the server, and lets new players want to play even more.

And then soon when we get the funds, the hackers will be competely removed.

Very nice plans, and ideas, and of course the confidence of online forever.

now i have a few more questions,
ONE, are you going to make a script for the GameCP so that there will be both GameCP and a VoteCP? (voteCP having a limited supply of items on the list)

TWO, will you get an auto updater, to make it easyer for new players to download the game, and of course keep homemade scripts void?
Also keep in mind, we may not need a Launcher Auto Updater(though it is the best, example: Retial/LevelUp) but may be an auto updater patch(like the GH one long ago), Keep confusion to a minimum, and making new players want to play even more.
